Strings

She stole that smile

From the Cheshire Cat

That Alice could never catch

While in wonderland

Using it with trickery

So skilled at hunting me

Trying to take me away

From all that I have

If only she knew

I am still the boy

I used to be

Never gotten over

That first glance that set me free

Instead she pulls the strings

I dissconnected years ago

But still follow for her

Two of us

Less dangerous

Or so I always thought

But it was not to be

This is sort of a strange poem. I don't really get it and that's probably because my lack of sleep is making me think of nothing but puppets...and for some reason burnt puppets...have we seen a movie with burnt toys lately?

we never really are disconnected --from the Cheshire in the tree or the Wonderlands within our mind --

My wife's famous picture-taken at the exact moment we were presented husband and wife-rolling her eyes. Honey-I don't keep up with the movies anymore...I do see our nice Cheshire cat everyday in the bathroom so that's where my subconscious says this is from.
Soulintention: I must agree that we are never really dissconnected from anything.

Another great poem. I love the reference to the Cheshire cat and Alice in Wonderland. That was one of my favorite books when I was a child. I still have the same copy I received from my uncle when I was 7.

Great writing!

Thanks Jane for the comment about this one. It holds a speical place for me. I love cats! That was a great book and one of Disney's more risqué films with the mushrooms, opium, and other drugs. It holds a place in my heart.

This one causes me to try to read between the lines, moreso, than usual with your poetry. It's mysterious, haunting, and rattles me a bit.
This reminds me of a relationship (or rather non-relationship) I have with someone who used to be close to me, but betrayed me. THis elicted strong emotions for me, Chris.
