"A friend wrote this"

Let me say to begin that a friend wrote this out of disgust that I did not continue my tradition of making an annual Valentine's Day poem of dark words. I thought hers were good enough to be posted, although she didn't give me today, just till 2:45pm yesterday. I write on a spur. I must admit I would have forgotten if not for her, so please give my friend's work a read. This will be the first thing ever she has had online.

Ode to V-day

It will be here tomorrow
That awfulest of days
I wish that I could hide my head
And miss the love-day craze

But rise and shine and face the day
Be drowned in red delights
Hearts and roses and candy
Choke you at every sight

Reminders that this good old world
Is made for couples (TWO)
Dare not to exist if you are one
Just fade clear out of view

Being alone is bad enough
But they will not let it pass
Instead they must remind you
Of love that didn't last

As if you don't feel bad enough
They swamp you at every turn
They won't let up, no matter what
They want you to really burn

By the end of the day it's even worse
You're ready to give in
Just remember - only 365 more
Til you have to face it again.

Now my poem of bitter disdain for Valentine's Day is below...

I can't say I care for Valentine's Day much either, even if I have a girlfriend. If you need a day set aside to really get whether someone loves you, you all need to re-evaluate that relationship! Glad to see you are still writing strong!

Perfect!
VDay is not a true lovers holiday...it's more like a pat on the head for some.
laughing...your words are great.
