A Rehearsal

These rehearsed words
He practiced for days
Written in so many places
Note cards and mirrors
Inside the car
Thinking practice
Could make perfect
Those rehearsed words
Failed him when he first laid eyes on her
The slick cool calm practiced words
Bumbled out incoherently
Into a faint gibberish
That meant nothing at all
And accomplished the same
These rehearsed words
Are still written down
So he can remember
How simple it would have been
To give a heart felt apology
Yet instead he was silent
Forgetting how to speak
These rehearsed words

Those rehearsed words never did help any one...

Let us hope that someday he will be able to apologize.
