Just babysitting
For a beautiful infant
When it all began
The storm outside windy
Slamming the shutters loudly
When the phone first rang
A deep scratchy voice
Probably just teenagers
But it continued
More calls to bother
Until I called the police
To get a trace made
A cell phone of course
Promises made to call back
After tracking it
On my way upstairs
To check out the baby's crib
The phone rang again
Police had traced
The call to inside the house
They were on the way
I broke out my gun
Ready to scare back whoever
Was fucking with me
Picked up the baby
Only to be confronted
By a cloaked stranger
Gave him two warnings
Before I fired the shot
Shattering his leg
Kicked him as I passed
Child in hand waited outside
For the backup cops
OOps, I had a brain
Guess he wasn't aware that
Women can kick ass

The ending threw me. Enjoyed the pacing and the story
Yep, you had me going! I suppose because of your recent remark about babies being on your mind, I had you pictured as I was reading, clear until I got to the last line !!! Well done - I bet no one saw that coming!
I didn't see it coming! I liked the tension building, the conversational style, the quickness of the words.

LOL
Good for her!
This reminded me of a scene from some horror movie, I think. Except for the ending.
You caught me out with the ending as well! Great stuff
Loved this new twist to an old horror film. Ending was perfect. I am glad she was able to protect her and the baby. Keep up the good work.

I didn't see it coming either, but I was glad to read the ending.
I just hope my brain engages if I were ever to be in a situation like that. I have told it to.
