The usual suspects

The usual suspects arrived
Wearing their cruel smiles
Covered in sweat from head to toe
With alibis that made no sense
There was nothing to hold them
Yet we divvied out punishment
Telling them all
We knew it was one of them
There were no other options
And until the guilty one came forth
They would all suffer
Then to our surprise
Casey, a four year old doll
Stepped forward and admitted to it all
Took the blame and explained
It was her initiation to become
A member of the little boys group
She had to break some rules
And the more the better
So she sat in time out
With a slight grin
Knowing she had done enough
And tomorrow she would be invited
To join in with playing games
With the five year old boys

This is a terrific poem, which had me smiling in the end.

glad that I could give a smile to a few people. It was strange writing a poem that was about children for me. Glad it worked okay.
