Passing Time

The seconds pass
As the sands of time
Slowly pass through
The tiny eye
Of the hourglass
While thinking
Just a few more grains
Eyelids become heavy
Like a weighted line
Cast out further
And dropping faster
Sinking into a bottomless refuge
Losing all sight of light
And relaxing in the darkness
Dreams appear
After sleep takes over
And seconds pass

I love this description of falling asleep, especially the fishing simile. Very different approach to the subject and well done.

The ending was magical. It relaxed and brought me into a tranquil state.

Good visual, Chris.

Really nice, Chris! And I really love how you created the sense of time passing when you had the seconds pass before falling asleep and then after too. I hope you are getting some rest -- you mentioned working 12 hour days and those can be brutal.

glad I still have the few and faithful readers. I put a lot into this one and I am glad you all enjoyed it. The work hasn't killed me yet.
