Forgive and Forget

One thing we as humans
Communicate to one another
All too often
Without even a brain wave
Is the phrase
To forgive and forget
Who does this?
I never forget
Just push it somewhere
So it's less commonly brought to the surface
Waiting for it to repeat
So I can remember
And get twice as mad
With twice the punishment
And to forgive
It's not our place
Ask God or go to confession
You need not my forgiveness
I too am human
And tomorrow
I might change my mind
Forgiveness does not roll back time
The chance is inevitable
Why not just move on
Without this saying
That only amounts to lies
