Scratch

Scratching at my door
All hours of the night
Wanting a little attention
Not caring if it's good or bad
The nocturnal kittens
Bored with one another
Want to add mom or dad
Into the mix
Sometimes it only takes
a voice
a footstep
a bang
Others a few minutes of petting
Yet occasionally the water bottle
Regardless of my method
Impossible to know
If it will last all night
Or only a minute
I love them
And would hate it
If someone removed my nails
But those claws
May have to go
