Days like this

(free writing)
Days like this
Why can't they be more often
When everything is going right
Nothing can upset me
Or ruin the mood
Everything I say
Is taken the right way
No one is annoyed
With my smart comments
But thinks I am funny
And I constantly hear
How great it would be
If I could act this everyday
When a little extra work
Doesn't bother me
When missing my night out
Is no longer important
Because I am not taking for granted
The love I am a part of
But enjoying every detail
Of my simple and rewarding life
Days like this
When the sun wakes before me
And sets at the exact time
To give me a perfect rest
If I could buy these days
I would invest
Because it's hard to come by
Days like this

hehe, I don't have very many of those days, just ask my wife!

this is a great poem, the sentiment is just exactly right, makes me want to get up a get this day right. Thanks for writing it.

See - you CAN write poems that are not sad and depressing! I love this one.

Yes, yesterday was a special day - at least the part that we shared with you.

This part was so pretty
Days like this
When the sun wakes before me
And sets at the exact time

The thing that made this poem have even a deeper level and meaning to me is it reminded me of a song called Days Like These. The lyrics in that go
I can make my peace, with days like these.

It is by Janis Ian.

The song and your poem are lovely complements to each other.

Bye for now, Sara
