A Present

When I first saw her
A few months ago
I smiled to myself
Maybe things were bound
To turn out like this
One of life’s tests
It has been so long
Since temptation
Has come knocking
At my door
An angel dressed in black
Hiding everything
Yet nothing
Locking eyes
With one another
So powerful
Like flirting without words
Like my imagination
Plucked from my head
And put here on earth
To tease me
Our silent laughter
Echoes in my head
Making me smile
During times of rain
Such is life I suppose
Yet still filled with the excitement
Of someone new
A wrapped present
That I can’t open
But follows me

So WOW isn't good enough - okay, how about the "quiet" references - "locking eyes with one another," "flirting without words," "our silent laughter" - all very touching and powerful. As I love to say, pure vintage CWC.
