One Deep Breath 9-9-07, Grandparents

Sad topic for me
Just death and desperation
In my memory

On my fathers side
I never met either one
Only heard stories

Dead before my birth
Did not seem a big deal then
Wish it was not so

Fourth grade was the year
My grandfather passed away
Very sad event

Could not really talk
Knew not who I was at all
Hard to understand

Last year my grandma
At the age of ninety five
What a painful end

With hospice for months
Just will power held her to
This earthly prison

If I only knew
They were reunited there
Where our prayers are heard

Then I could move on
With a smile and head held high
But no guarantee

I have only me

Chris, you say it so well, anyone reading this will feel emotions with you. I'm sorry you lost them, I hope you have memories that bring warmth to your heart.

I think the fact your grandmother lived so long after your grandfather died says a lot for her inner strength, especially after your remark about wanting to know they were reunited.

This is very good. How come it's not on the link page (or did you give yourself another name?). I'm sorry you lost them too, they were clearly loved.

Your love of your grandparents comes through. And it makes me think of my own loss of grandparents.
