Slice of Life at the BBQ place

Overhearing
Well no
Purposefully eavesdropping
On the booth behind us
Maybe not
This place is quiet
I don’t fit in
I didn’t order dead pig
I prefer my home
To hold in the wall fast food
Only a chain
Could be held accountable
And pay if I die from the food
But maybe not
All this chatter
Keeps the distant piano
From making sense
And now another family
Across the way
Making sure “buddy” finished dinner
Lips smacking 3X
She has mentioned weight loss 4 times
About four pounds
Is 4 lbs a lot?
I bet I could just tell myself
Four pounds be gone
100 times in my head
And the thought alone
Would make it happen
Maybe not

Chris, I love the ending of your poem.

We can't help but eavesdrop on people, some of them make it so easy. I never thought to make a poem of part of a conversation, I have to try it now.
