The cold sweat
Associated with them
The scratching
The repeated movements
Talking so fast
No one can understand
And thinking even faster
All those feelings
Associated with them
Wanting to undress
To feel free
And a weight
That can’t be lifted
So that the skull
Feels it has doubled in mass
Why on Earth
Would I want to feel this
And keep it lasting as long as possible
No matter the cost
Monetary, personal, or other
Because
Addiction is so much stronger
Than you could imagine
And you are addicted too
Maybe not to them
But to something

Addiction has got to be a horrible thing, especially a strong physical addiction.
The mind can be made stronger than the addiction, I am sure -- but I think it must be the most incredibly hard thing in the world to pull off.
I have no experience, but my instincts tell me it is possible, I know my instincts are right, but I don't know how many people would have the strength necessary and that breaks my heart.
What is it that keeps one person from experimenting and another from not? I mean what is it really?
but you are right in your poem that we are probably all addicted on some level to something. . . .
PS - your poll, more pictures - even if just one once in a while would make some of us smile -- but I don't come for the pictures but for the poetry and glimpse at a human being sharing.
LOVE this poem because it describes that addictive feeling so well...though my addictions aren't of the chemical kind...I do feel I have an addiction to learning or goal making that gives me similiar feelings...it is an itch...nice job!
Hey Chris! Wow, you did a great job of describing how addiction can feel -- terrific imagery and sensations. And you are right on about how many people are addicted to something. I hope you have a great weekend.
You got deep into that emotion and made me feel the pain of addiction.
Youve captured addiction very well there.
Addiction of anything is bad. You got that too well in here.
I think it's interesting--your stream of consciousness, the lack of punctuation, etc.
