Crickets Chirped

Knocking on the door
Seems no one is home
But we both know better
Locked were changed
So if I tried the key
It would not work
But we always left it
Unlocked anyway
Decided to wait
On the doorsteps
Figuring sooner or later
You would appear
The night came
And I lay down
On the porch swing
To take a nap
When I woke up
Arms were wrapped around me
Holding me as I remembered
While the crickets chirped
The next morning I left
To make the trip home
Away from where we fell in love
So many years ago
