Climbing

The rope is hurting
The one that ties us together
We were both climbing
And you fell
I pulled you back up
Time and time again
But you only kept falling
I gave you my gear
New gloves
Lightened your load
But you still had no grip
Slipping with each step
And finally I had to decide
It was time to continue
And to move up with your weight
Pulling me off the mountain
Was not possible
I blew you a kiss
With my apology
And cut my losses
Along with the rope
