Poetry Thursday

They used my idea this week! I am so happy!!! Now I just have to come up with a poem that fits my random idea that came from reading too much yesterday. This is thrilling. I now know this will be a good week. I just have to figure out what my favorite thing is and brainstorm a little. The problem is I don't brainstorm or plan, I just write. This might take effort which excites me. Ta Ta for now, I am getting to work on this. (and to my job!)

So that was 7:43 AM and now it's 6:15pm and I have had a chance to think. This is much harder than I thought but I did it. For me I used the concept of a riddle to write a semi-poem and then I tore that apart and picked out all the beautiful parts of it to put together into a poem. I asked two people after reading my poem how obvious it was, my friend had no idea and my wife got it 2 lines into the poem. Here is my unnamed poem for this week.

Flowing in the wind
Like grass and tree limbs
Sweet fragrances erupting
Like flowers and fruit
As I am tickled
In a way only it could do
A smile crosses my face

For many a problem
Like fishing line
Stringy and Frail
It can get caught
Knotted, or tangled

Dead
Yet when we see it
Full of color
Any color you can imagine

tickled fruit and flowers; what an interesting thought...

I didn't quite put it that way, but that would be an interesting thought. Thanks for stopping in and reading.

Thanks Katie-appreciate it.

Congrats on them using your idea. I wrote my poem already. I found it fun to try and convey an object without naming the object.

My guess is hair. Though I think I must be wrong.

I was going to say I was stumped, but then I read writerwoman's comment.

If it is hair, then it makes sense.

I like your poem though and I wrote mine based on your very cool idea.

I'm glad I have something you enjoy so much in life!

Well from Anne's comment you should be able to guess that Sara (writerwoman) was right. It's hair, specifically a female's hair. I had a lot of other lines in the beginning. They made it way too obvious. Man I wish I had hair long enough to bother shampooing with nice stuff, but with 1/2 inch I just go with the 99 cent bottles.

Love the concept of picking out the beautiful words...what you end up with is always poetic. I'm impressed.

Chris,
Now that I know I was mistaken (I thought the object might be a night gown), let me say I enjoyed the flow of the poem!
I've flowed the suggested prompt for today in short "ode" form.
I invite you to guess. ;-)

give me a minute to get it up though. (no pun intended)

Chris, it's a great poem and thanks for the prompt this week.

I like the line "like flowers and fruit".

I just have to say this is a wonderful feeling. I will be sure to come up with more prompts if I am actually going to get a lot of readers who actually say really nice things.

Pauline-really appreciate what you said. I do try to make it poetic.

Remiman-You had a good guess and that would be another object that I love, on Anne of course (she is like a spy, she might come back and read this)

Brian-thanks for the encouragement-that is what makes this group so important to me.

This was a brilliant idea and I guessed yours correctly. Mine is a tad too obvious ;) Wonderful poetry!!!

Oh thank God, I actually guessed right on someone's poem. Even if I had to read it twice. :) I really liked the opening images, they really draw you in to the poem.

My fellow bloggers-you are much too kind. I really appreciate the support I recieved this week. It really makes me feel like a part of the group that I look forward to hearing from as often as possible.

Wow- I would never have guessed hair! I was thinking something a little more magical, but I guess for you, Chris- hair is magical!
I have more the middle stanza kind of hair- ;)... and I loved the last part- hair is dead, the part that shows anyway- and the fact that it's so beautiful sometimes is amazing!
This was such a fun prompt and it really challenged me to think outside my own little box. Your comment was so kind on my poem- it's nice to have comfirmation and affirmation that what I write not only pleases me but others, too!
You really are an inspiration, Chris! Someday I may have a Lulu book too!

I love having long hair! Nice poem and great idea you had, glad it was used as the prompt this week!

Regina-thanks for taking the time to write such a thoghtful response. My wife's hair now, but the hair of many females, the one's without dreadlocks (which I find beautiful in a totally different way) have always been a facination. When someone lays their head on my shoulder or in my lap and I can smell their hair it's basically like you said-magical. I'm glad you liked what I had to say.
Crafty green poet-I love all types of hair but long hair was my favorite until I recently got stuck on short hair because I wanted my wife to get rid of the bangs-now I kinda wish I hadn't done that. Oh well, live and learn. Thanks for your support.

I like it, it flows well, vernacular could be expanded, but for the subject it works really well.

This I finally realized was my lil' sis/friend Casey-she just thinks my work is RAW, and it is. But that is the way I like it.
