A turn

I wish they would give me a turn
I’m not too young to be here
I’ve met the height requirements
Long before today came along
Still I sit
Left out and lonely
Thinking of the fun
I am missing out on

I wish they would give me a turn
It looks so simple
Watching them
Seeing the looks on their faces
Almost no steps involved
From start to finish
Thinking of the fun
I am missing out on

I wish they would give me a turn
People are cutting lines
Everywhere I turn
Everyone seems so mellow
So relaxed
Enjoying the boredom of a room without windows
Thinking of the fun
I am missing out on

But mom and dad say I can’t have a turn
That this white dust is not fairy dust
And that it will burn my nose
Make life speed by so fast
That I will be old and stupid
Before I can stop
And I will be old and stupid
If I keep sitting here
Thinking of the fun
I am missing out on
