Sometimes we all give in.
Instead of asking people
To behave like adults,
We indulge their strange behaviors.
Attempting to walk on eggshells
That even a pigeon would shatter,
To keep a smile around
Or avoid hurting those
Who just don’t measure up,
Can’t be even a little mature
If their lives depended on it
Only adding to our own stress.
Growing up is not an option!
If they want to create thin ice
Let them walk on it alone,
While we shall remain rational.
This business of bending the rules
Should be abandoned all together.
Sometimes we should all give in
To the innate desire to teach a lesson the hard way,
At least it will be learned.
