He doesn’t mind asking
For the help needed
It ceased to matter
Years ago
When mistakes were made
That can’t be forgotten
And he was cast away
Became a foreigner
In his own land
Doomed to lurk
In dark pathways
And damp corners
For the rest of his days
Once upon a time
He was proud
Too much to ask
For any sort of favor
But his pride and spirit
Have been broken
And all he has to his name
Is his skin
And what he can find
Scavenging the countryside
Looking for the soul
That he lost on that day
