The rapid reaction of you jumping away from me
Left blood red scratches, deeply embedded tears
When all I wanted was to set you free
Visited the hospital briefly to get repairs
The slow stitching painfully stung like honey bees
Left blood red scratches, deeply embedded tears
All the numerous shots for potential allergies
The pain killers did not quite clear out my mind
The slow stitching painfully stung like honey bees
Hours had passed and left me far behind
And now my focus returned to move on through
The pain killers did not quite clear out my mind
When I reached home again I locked eyes with you
And the smile filling my face just let you know
And now my focus returned to move on through
Now you purred as I reached my hand down low
The rapid reaction of you jumping away from me
And the smile filling my face just let you know
When all I wanted was to set you free
Yeah it’s about my cat

Poor sweet Balboa has to take the rap for everything while his perfect sister probably gets away with murder! I think you owe him bigtime after this one! (I'm on his side - Willow will always get by on her good looks like so many females do!)
Yes, incase anyone is wondering...I have two cats, the innocent female perfect feline named Willow, and the Bastard Cat Balboa. They are brother and sister and he scratched me the other day on the waste trying to jump away-nothing else in the poem was true. I just wanted to try something new. Thanks Anne for your comment.
You did well with the terzanelle. It works for me. Rather I would say it flows.
What I feel about structured poetry is that we should write on every day things. I can see that here in your poems.
Try to write more.
These are fabulous, Chris. I especially like the first one and the climbing one.
Gautami-thanks for the support. I agree with you. Everyday topics are always best to write about. I am going to work on more structured ideas but still keep to my roots of just free verse.
Paris-I really appreciate that. I am working really hard to pump them out right now because I want people to know I am not dead and I am writing, just don't always have time to post. Thanks for the compliments.
