Painful Phrase

I can think of a phrase

That is worse than any four letter words

Actually it is more painful

Than any combination of them

“You are dead to me”

What kind of sick person

Would say this

Comparing you to a corpse

As if your life is worthless

And no good can ever come from you

“You might as well kill yourself”

That is a six word statement

That in my humble opinion

Is getting across the same message

But in an even more cruel way

Not only are you dead to me

You are dead to everyone

And better off not existing

To bother others with your life

In your totality you are nothing more

Than a nuisance

Better off eradicated

Why do the ones we love

Say such horrid things

Knowing we will listen

And never forget

That for even a moment

The thought had crossed their minds

Life without us in it
