As I blew my nose
After the brisk and chilly outdoor walk
That started off yet another Tuesday
The voices of old men filled the locker room
Discussing how the coal being burnt
To use as fuel in China and India
Is causing all the climate changes
And disturbances in El Nino (don't know how to accent that)
That we are experiencing here
I had a good mind to interrupt
And attempt to explain
How one possible contributing factor
Did not constitute it being called "The Reason"
But I just walked away
Knowing that if they still payed most taxes
Other than food and sales tax
They would never support a congressional bill
To help these countries develop new means to create energy
Because it would require an increase in taxes
They were unwilling to pay
Just like the typical American
Wanting something for nothing

This one makes me think about the world and my place in it. And how others look at America.
I really do believe most countries see us as spoiled brats. Thanks for stopping by Sara.
Ironic isn't? How we want to shut the door on the rest of the world.
Brian: Without being any more political than the poem, I will just agree that this poem is ironic when compared to the current US situation.
Sometimes when people age, they lose their youthful idealism wherein they think they can change the world. May you never lose yours - it is so much a part of your charm.
With that I will say hasta manana.

The world isn't too big to change, after all compared to Planet Space we are tiny-(this is an inside joke with me and YOA)
